Canary Yellow

It’s tulip season. I’m a huge fan of flowers of any kind and am excited to see them in NYC (in the park, on the side of the road, anywhere!). Another salute to spring in our color of the month. Although, the weather has turned a bit overcast I look forward to the triumphant return of 70 degree weather in NYC.

Beautiful sheet set from Imagine By Charlie featured on ideeli.com. I love how this makes me think of spring and summer. The weather has finally broken in NYC so it definitely feels like summer. Even in the winter though I think these sheets would certainly put you in a better mood waking up in the morning to schlep in the snow. Enjoy the true start of Spring!

Okay, I usually don’t post anything so outlandish that I probably wouldn’t wear them, but these are in our color of the month, so what the heck! An example of geek chic these shoes will definitely make you look down and stare. The only reason I find these interesting is the fact that they are canary yellow. Designed by Prada they are unique if nothing else. Wearable as well and surely comfortable, but beautiful definitely debatable. It really makes you wonder about your own personal style. Is it too safe that you wouldn’t dream of wearing something like this or more outlandish that you have these in your closet already? Sometimes I want to be more adventurous in my looks and more bold. So, hopefully these shoes will inspire me to do so. Thanks, Prada!

Seen today on my train ride into work, Cole Haan ad featuring our color of the month. The thing about New York subways is that it takes a while for ads to come down so I’m not sure if these looks were meant for Spring or fall 2013. But to me the outfit seems well suited to spring. I like the combination of tan and yellow, just peaking out of the heel. It’s a fun look. And kudos to the team at Cole Haan for matching the color of their ad to the colors of the subway seats.

Gold always looks beautiful with yellow. It’s a given. Images of canary yellow diamonds flit through my memory. We can dream can’t we. But, this piece is fun and fashionable and neon! Neon is not just for those 80’s parties Gen Next, let’s work it into our wardrobe’s more. It’s different and we should enjoy being different from time to time. Incredibly inspired this weekend by the NY International Auto Show, I have chosen our next color of the month, Canary Yellow. It definitely makes you feel like spring and summer and reminds you of warmth but on the other hand it’s very very bright.  A classic car color it is not seen as often as you might think. Even at the car show, it made an appearance only twice. Now, in New York Canary Yellow is as ubiquitous as taxi cabs, but my job will be to find the unconventional appearances of the color. I have a love hate relationship with yellow. Let me see if I can come to just love it through my exploration this month.

Seen here in this video a little glimpse of an icosahedron in our color of the month (yes I looked up the actual name). I found this gem at the Lincoln motors display from the NY International Auto Show. I just wanted to include this find before we move on to our next color of the month. Just for fun. Any movie buffs out there will remember this structure from Little Man Tate, featuring Jodi Foster.

So, on to a new color for the month of April. Spring is finally here. But before that, I just wanted to share these images of cars in our color of last month, deep purple, that I took from the New York International Auto Show. The event was amazing. I’m not a big fan of cars but I’m definitely a big fan of design. And that is what the show is about. Everyone can enjoy these images, man or woman, car aficionado or not, they are just beautiful to look at and admire as artistry. The event is going on until April 7th so make sure to make it downtown to see the show. Check out their website here for more information.

Another etsy.com find (click through to purchase) by way of Svpply.com (my new favorite site). Now I can have the closet of my dreams at least digitally until I can purchase it (one day grasshopper). Anyway, this is an amazing image, somewhat heartbreaking and amazingly candid. It’s crazy what can happen even to the most famous people in the world. It really makes you wonder, what happened?! If anyone can shed light on the events, please post. Not a big fan of the commoditization of people’s very private events especially on a T-shirt but it makes you think about where to place this image. At once, a young picture of Prince but also a man incarcerated for who knows what. All that’s left is the image. I’ll leave it up to you. Seems like a fitting way to end the month of March.
